Fond farewell to Paddy

Paddy retires as Manager of Here to Help.

Paddy Coulman has recently retired as Manager of Here to Help. Working as a volunteer receptionist at the hospital she saw the need for an organisation to help patients returning home after a stay in hospital or recovering from illness or injury. Joining the Hospital Board in 2012 she founded H2H with a small committee and 20 volunteers. Since then it has helped many of our community with a wide variety of tasks including driving to appointments, collecting prescriptions, shopping, dog walking, form filling, or sitting talking to clients.

Thanks to her hard and diligent work in visiting clients and organising a suitable volunteer, H2H has grown and gained a high reputation with the community, GPs, hospital staff, district nurses and patients’ relatives for providing an invaluable service to clients at a vulnerable stage of recovery. Paddy has now handed over to Ros Ham, a retired occupational therapist, but remains on the Board and leads the gardening team of volunteers which helps keep the hospital grounds looking so immaculate!
