St Bartholomews' Court (Sanctuary Housing)
In 1992 a long lease was granted by Rye Health and Care Ltd (now Rye Winchelsea and District Memorial Hospital Ltd, the “Charity”) to Shaftesbury Housing Association to develop 30 single bedroom housing units at the Memorial Care Centre for the purpose of the care of the sick and elderly.
Planning Consent was obtained as a rural exception site through a negotiated Section 106 Agreement and the project subsequently completed, known as St Bartholomew’s Court.
Following active co-operation between leading housing and care provider Sanctuary Group, existing residents, the Charity, the Homes and Communities Agency, East Sussex County Council and Rother District Council, a modified Section 106 Agreement has been agreed. They have recently completed to a very high standard the refurbishment of the existing 30 units, and added another 25. These are filling up fast, but there are still some units available either to rent, or for shared equity for people 60 years or over with some care needs. For more information contact the Scheme Manager, Carolyn Neale on 01797 330592 or email email@example.com.
The Extra Care scheme will have a dedicated 24 hour on-site care team and an emergency response service.
Applications for the new homes will be handled by Rother District Council.
The Rye Medical Centre
This state of the art surgery was opened in 2007 and has 5 GPs plus a registrar, a dispensary, practice nurse, clinics and an active Patients Participation Group.
